. it started at a home on mckinnon and then traveled around the corner to 3rd street here in san francisco's bay view district just before 1:00 this morning. it caused severe fire damage to three buildings. water damage to two homes. those are flooded. then one building suffered damage on the outside of it. all of these buildings are homes except for one. there is one business here. it's called the new club long island. all of the people escaped their homes safely but they say it was scary. >> went to bed and heard an explosion. we thought it was like shooting or something. we didn't pay attention to anything. and then woke up my wife and went and picked a window and i seen particles coming from the sky so i went to the other window and i saw the fire. i woke her up and got some clothes and got out as quick as we could. >> reporter: he says he is still looking for signs of his cat. but everyone got out okay. everyone was out by the time firefighters got here. two firefighters were hurt. one fell off his ladder. suffered bumps and bruises. another suffered from minor smoke inhalation and is

30 minutes. >> an uncertain morning for people in the san francisco neighborhood as sink holes have open up a week after a water main break. sue thompson is live at the scene. how does it look right now? >> i can tell you right now a lot of neighbors here are really watching and waiting because the forecast today calls for rain and that is not good news for so many homeowners out here in this neighborhood that are battling sinkholes. this has been going on for days. the problem developed last wednesday when a city water main broke. the gushing water triggered sinkholes new up to five sinkholes. they have already damaged about a dozen homes, literally many are caving in, room by room. up to four homes have been red tagged. the city of san francisco says they will pay for repairs but the problem, now, is the forecast. the rain could be arriving this evening and it will add to the sing homes because the ground, the city says, is not stage and more water will not help. >> first, it was about this much. the following day, it began, you know, it looked like this hole now, this size. then

gate bridge and temperature right now in san francisco is 49 and oakland is 48 and san jose is 46 and pleasanton is 42 and palo alto is warmer at 51 and mill valley is 44. in san jose we are look at 87 and 24 hour temperature change, three degrees warmer in oakland and five in santa rosa, and six to eight in concord and san jose. starting in the south bay we will have mid-to-upper 70's in most neighborhoods and cupertino 72 and santa cruz and sunshine and 75. we will have low-to-mid 60's along the coast and some of the mid-60's spill into millbrae and mostly low 70's for the peninsula and upper 60's in downtown and 66 in south san francisco and 70's in sausalito and wonderful time to be in wine country. low-to-mid 60's at your beach with increasing sunshine and 70 to 71 on the east bay shore and 71 to 75 is the spread in the east bay valley. tone, it will be another mild night with fog possible near the coast with clouds and upper 40's for the bay and coach. there are dangerous sneaker waves around today so watch out for the beaches as you try to walk around the outcrops of rocks
